This1 day course, held in a professional studio i is the perfect starter course for photographers with little or no experience of lighting for portraits. It starts from the very beginning with a simple portrait lit with an anglepoise lamp, progressing to using a speedlight and finally a budget price studio flash At each stage help with the settings, full explanations given and we allow plenty of time for one to one shooting.
Open up a whole new world of photography!
The intermediate portrait course is a great follow on from the basic course or as a stand alone studio lighting course for photographers who wish to expand their knowledge of lighting. Using studio flash to shape the light with various accessories for portraits and a full length set-up for children/groups etc.
This one day course is held in a professional studio with a very experienced professional model

Chris has worked in the photographic industry for most of his working life, specialising in studio lighting.
This studio lighting course is booked and run by Chris Burfoot. A basic knowledge of lighting is an advantage and is a perfect follow-on course from the RPS Portrait Course. However, it is also a stand alone course for photographers wanting to expand their knowledge of Studio Lighting and working with a professional model.
We work in-conjunction with broncolor lighting who supply most of the equipment for the courses. These one day courses are held in professional studios in locations in the UK.
Each set is fully explained as we work through the day and there is plenty of time for one to one shooting. Help is always available from Chris, his assistant Terry and often the studio owner.
Please see the testimonials below published on Purpleport from previous delegates.
Just attended another great lighting workshop run by Chris Burfoot! His workshops are both fun & informative & also inspiring, he explains how to achieve effects with basic gear as well as what you can do with more elaborate gear. Very highly recommended!
I have attended quite a few courses run by Chris Burfoot (and have just booked to do another one!) Why? Because he is the best! Extremely knowledgeable and a great teacher, his courses are both fun & educational. If you want to improve your lighting techniques then get on one (or more!) of Chris's courses! And when you have done one of his courses you can join his Facebook group for ongoing help & advice. Absolutely recommended!
I have done two workshops with Chris on portrait photography and artistic nude. Loved every minute of them and learned so much. Chris is a first class teacher, patient, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. A top class photographer too. I'm hoping to do another workshop in the summer on advanced lighting with Chris.
